24 years ago the world lost a great talent. While there are many speculations that the rapper is still alive we continue to celebrate him on his birthday where w he would have been 49 years old.
Let's look at the top songs that reflect on the current situation today.

The Weeknd does it again with yet again another controversial remix. Abel known for his dark explicit songs and falsetto voice put out the In Your Eyes Remix featuring Doja Cat. Many complain that the 24-year-old singer/rapper was not a good fit. The same arguments were made in 2015 when The Weeknd released The Hills Remixes with Eminem and Nicki Minaj. The Weeknd is known to think outside of the box in terms of his features as if it was a sinister scheme or a master plan. In this case Doja Cat adds to the 80's trapped in Vegas-style music.

One month ago the world was made aware of Joyner Lucas appreciation for Will Smith and his accomplishments in the music and entertainment industry. The original video by Lucas paid homage to Smith using visuals from his music career, The Fresh Prince of Bel Aire, Bad Boys, Men In Black Wild Wild West and more. Humbled by this, Smith remixes the song going off in the track thanking him but dedicating his success to Nelson Mandela, Mohammed Ali, as well as his mother , wife Jada , Martin Lawrence, the late James Avery. He ends the verse by imparting fatherly wisdom and telling Lucas will grow up just fine with a dad like him. Many people have underestimated the lyricism that Will Smith possesses giving the remix double the shock factor for new fans everywhere.
It is refreshing to see collaborations and people paying homage like this.

Empire has been a staple of the FOX television franchise for six years depicting life on the streets and the underdog starting from the bottom and succeeding. While many people debated over the originality of the show during its series run there have been many that followed the show religiously. With the sixth season focusing on the aftermath of Kingsley's (A,Z. Kelsey's) suicide in order to donate his heart to Andre (Trai Byers). The storyline for the season started with Lucious (Terrance Howard) dying from a bullet wound while Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) dies in a car explosion. When watching the season the storyline felt incomplete as the six-season series ended on a lackluster note leaving both the viewers and members of the cast wanting a proper ending for the series. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the series was forced to cut the production of the final episode in accordance with the quarantine policy in the United States.
However, the policy, Lee Daniels, and the producers have fallen under scrutiny as this is the second time one of their shows had an abrupt ending. Last year Fox canceled the sister show to the series Star featuring Queen Latifah, Jude Demorest, Luke James, Ryan Destiny, and Brittany O' Grady. There has been yet any confirmation on a proper ending for this franchise as well.
Empire showrunners confirmed to the Washington Post that episode 18 was not intended to be the original series finale but was structured to go as such, teaching the Lyon family no matter the obstacle the family's love always concurs.
The questions that are being asked, who shot Lucious? Will Andre reunite with Terri and Walker will Cookie come out of the explosion? Taraji P. Henson told EW "if Empire doesn't get a proper series finale, it will be on her mind forever". She told EW "she is pushing for it to be made properly".
What are your thoughts on the Empire series finale? Do you want them to re-do the ending and give the fans the ending they deserve? Let us know! Follow us everywhere @dtfradio and @ivyproductions
Maya Rudolph once said to love Prince is to love music.
Four years ago yesterday the world lost a musical genius in Prince Rogers Nelson. For over 20 years Prince constantly pushed boundaries talking about religion, sexuality, gun control, life, the aftermath, and more. His music will continue to transcend and teach us even after our deaths. After four years we still continue to mourn as we hear classics such as When Doves Cry, Darling Nikki, and Purple Rain.
The Grammy's celebrated the career of Prince with longtime friend and percussionist Sheila E. and the artists such as Alicia Keys, The Foo Fighters, Miguel, HER, with a powerful performance from The Revolution take a look at our favorite moments of the night.
While government officials work on the physical safety of everyone in the country, one person has thought about the mental safety of our brothers and sisters during this time. Eminem is one of the celebrities that worked on sending relief outside of providing masks and working on Instagram live. As of yesterday Eminem announced that he will be providing free Sirus XM access until May 15th.
Canadian artist Abel Tesfaye or popularly known as The Weeknd has been turning heads and causing an enigma in the musical souls of his listeners since 2012. From his original mixtapes Echoes of Silence, Thursday, and House of Balloons to his full LP and EPs Kissland, Beauty Behind the Madness, My Dear Melancholy and now After Hours The Weeknd continues to produce music that leaves you asking questions once you are done listening. His latest project After Hours is no different.
The project has been the topic of mixed feelings for both fans and celebrities alike. Artists such as Joe Budden discussed their opinion of the lackluster the project allegedly brings. Critics acclaimed that the project does not have the studio mainstream feel that he brought with Starboy as one of his releases under republic records. Fans of The Weeknd from the original mixtapes enjoy the blend between the original feel that the album brings as well as the mainstream vibes from his later content. After Hours is a compilation of all of The Weeknd's musical prowls. Currently we see The Weeknd in a new form where he does bring the aspects of Starboy and a 90's feel of music mixed with his original style of music.
The project follows a lost in LA theme, and each video that was put out were short films in continuation with each other. While the entire storyline has not unfolded in the videos yet we have concluded that the elements of the video follow along his feeling after his breakup with longtime lover and girlfriend Bella Hadid. An example of this is In Your Eyes where he describes the point of their relationship in which he was being lied and cheated on; the video shows us this with the woman portrayed to us chopping The Weeknd's head off and dancing with it. The many deep tones , meanings and melodies give us the depth of feel and an inside look into the soul of The Weeknd.
With the many elements and complexities that the album brings it is enjoyable to its listeners, leading the top Billboard Top 100 for both singles for Heartless and Blinding Lights topping Roddy Rich The Box, as well as the top 200 Album list.
This is a project if you deff want to listen and give us feedback what you thought about it.
"All my life, been grindin' all my life / Sacrificed, hustled, paid the price / Want a slice, got to roll the dice." –Nipsey Hussle on "Grinding All My Life"
It has been one year since the legendary rapper Nipsey Hussle passed away from a fatal gun shot wound in front of his Marathon clothing store. Nipsey was not just an artist and a business owner but he was also a father, a friend, a pillar to his community. We tend to see with many influential leaders that their lies are cut short and it causes a wound. A wound so deep it takes many years to heal, and although we are on quarantine and we can not go out to unite in this world to mourn over the loss we are still showing solidarity.
Nipsey was a symbol for both unity in music as well as his community in California. While trying to bridge the Wast Coast sound of hiphop into the mainstream media, he also looked to celebrate musicians and people who walked the same road he walked. Hussle looked to end gang violence in Los Angeles as he was a member of the Rollin 60's Neighborhood Crips. He worked to broker unity between the Crips the Bloods notorious gangs that have been dispersed all over the nation. His hustle also included the empowerment of our black brothers and sisters to own their businesses, own their masters and whatever they choose to pursue.
Why does Nipseys death hurt? Why did the deaths of Martin Luther King , Malcom X and Biggie hurt? "Grinding all My Life" is the testament of Nipsey's life. He sacrificed his blood sweat and tears to not only make the world a better place for those around him, but he wanted to make a change so his children can have a better future. He wanted people can drop the guns and start picking up books and do what they can to live better lives. In terms of music he brought different elements to the rap genre that can be considered unfamiliar to those of the east coast but his goal was to set new standards for music. Nipsey will never be forgotten but the best we can do as humans especially during this time is to honor him by being kinder to each other, having less hate making sure your neighbor that doesn't have food or water has something. Make sure your kids are learning something whether its through their STEM programs or just a skill that they didn't know they possessed. Lastly, Nipsey taught us to forever be grateful for life, and to remember that it is too short, to love and appreciate everything we can.
With the COVID-19 pandemic numbers continue to rise in the state of New York supplies for medical workers have been depleting quickly and while the powers that be up in Washington do not believe we need the extra medical supplies here in New York the former Knicks players and Cony Island Native reached out to Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and sent his assistance according to the New York Post.
The next step and the fight to assist still continues as Adams and Marbury attempt to connect with both Governor Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill De Blasio to initiate Marbury's offer and help the people of New York.

Today was a major win for female's, sexual and domestic violence victims everywhere. After months of deliberation and fighting the courts sentenced the formerly esteemed Hollywood mogul to 23 years in federal prison for two counts of felony sex crimes. In a world where the justice system has failed women on many occasions it is a blessing to see justice finally be served. Weinstein being one of the many accused in the #MeToo movement has been convicted of rape by actresses Ashley Judd and Rose McGowan from the hit series Charmed were two of the leads in the movement and the conviction of Harvey Weinstein.
For decades Weinstein had promised career advances for sexual favors and once denied said women were blackballed in the industry. Some of his victims include :
Mimi Haleyi
Jessica Mann
Kaja Sokola
Rose McGowan
Ashley Judd
and more
Do we consider this to be the first step in the uphill battle for womens rights, will there be more convictions for men of his stature that violated the personal rights of these women.

Have you felt the Bern yet?? With Super Tuesday vastly approaching our candidates are looking to make that splash before the Super Tuesday primaries where all major states including California will hold elections and caucuses. The 78 year old democratic candidate has been the favorite to the hip hop community since his throwing his hat in the ring in 2016 being endorsed by Killer Mike, T.I and Bun B.
It was announced today via Billboard that Sanders will have the legendary hip hop group Public Enemy performing at his rally this Saturday in California. The rally will have appearances as well from Comedian Sarah Silverman and legendary actor Dick Van Dyke.
It isn't surprising with the lengths that Bernie has taken in order to secure his position in the primaries and the campaign he has led to have Public Enemy at the event. For years Public Enemy has been the voice for African American issues in politics, there is not a more appropriate group to perform at this rally.
What do you think they will perform this Saturday drop your thoughts below!
One month ago a plane crashed in the Calabasas area that took the lives of the following nine people :

9 homes were changed, nine families received news that changed lives forever and with that the lives of those who were loved by these people were affected. As Lebron James recently stated to ESPN after the tribute to Kobe and Gianna at the Staples center in Los Angeles that the shook the core of the entire city James took to ESPN to state there will never fully be closure for Gigi and Kobe Bryants death.
"It's never a closure. It's never going to be a closure," James said. "I mean, we continue to live on his legacy and continue to have our hearts heavy with both sadness and with happiness for his family that are still here. So it's not a closure. But it was a celebration which was well received from not only the Laker faithful, not only the family here, but everybody around the world."
His statement has not been more accurate with the one month anniversary of the tragic accident that took the lives of these 9 people. The staples center was filled with those that mourned the Black Mamba his daughter and the nine victims, those that followed and admired the career of Bryant and stood in awe in what could have been a hall of fame career for the 13 year old future hall of famer who wanted to play at UConn when she graduated from high school. From the touching memorials of Michael Jordan , Shaquille O'Neil , Sabrina Ionescu (Gianna's Mentor) , The White Mamba Diana Taurasi but the most heartbreaking tribute came from his wife Vanessa Bryant.
As men women and humans we fear every day for our loved ones whether they are fire fighters, first responders, or even just a teacher coming from work we can never expect to lose someone the way Vanessa Bryant lost Kobe and Gigi. Her words her emotions during the ceremony hit the world to their core as they felt every ounce of that pain as she said her stories and her goodbyes to her first love and her baby girl. Bryant was not only known for his skills on the court but the contributions he made for the community and later on the world. The Kobe and Vanessa Bryant Foundation was founded in 2006, originally called the VIVO Foundation. The charity was created in an effort to financially support young people in "life-changing experiences designed to broaden their global perspectives. While many people have looked out for themselves, you still have people that care about our kids and really wanted to make a difference. And despite the negative publicity that many news outlets tried to slander the fallen player with. There still many things that have not been taken into consideration. The work this man has done and the lives hes touched has left a momentum effect on us, the numbers 2, 8 and 24 will live in infamy will those children that are watching to become inspired by Gianna Bryant and her love for the game. Will fathers become more inspired to become better fathers after the #Girlsdadmovement had taken during the last month. 2/24 has become a day to forever live in infamy as we slowly heal. The Kobe Effect lives on forever.
According to Nathan Fenno of the Los Angeles Times, Vanessa Bryant has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Island Express Helicopters & Island Express Holding Corporation following the deaths of her husband Kobe Bryant, their 13 year old daughter Gianna and 7 other passengers which included the pilot Ara Zobayan last month in Calabasas, California. Bryant is seeking general, economic & punitive damages stating the the company's breach of its duty and negligence caused the trajedy. The lawsuit states that Kobe Bryant, Gianna and the other passengers were killed as a direct result of the negligent conduct of Zobayan for which Island Express Helicopters is liable in all respects. According to Hannah Fry of the Los Angeles Times Zobayan had previously been disciplined back in 2015 for violating federal flight rules and he was employed by Island Express Helicopters during that time as well. During the fatal crash in January, there was thick fog that had caused the Los Angeles Police Department to ground its fleet of helicopters. According to Chris Woodyard of USA Today a preliminary investigation showed there was no engine failure on the helicopter, however, the helicopter didn't have a terrain awareness and warning system, which is recommended by the National Travel Safety Board. This story is still developing.

My girls and I want to thank the millions of people who’ve shown support and love during this horrific time. Thank you for all the prayers. We definitely need them. We are completely devastated by the sudden loss of my adoring husband, Kobe — the amazing father of our children; and my beautiful, sweet Gianna — a loving, thoughtful, and wonderful daughter, and amazing sister to Natalia, Bianka, and Capri. We are also devastated for the families who lost their loved ones on Sunday, and we share in their grief intimately. There aren’t enough words to describe our pain right now. I take comfort in knowing that Kobe and Gigi both knew that they were so deeply loved. We were so incredibly blessed to have them in our lives. I wish they were here with us forever. They were our beautiful blessings taken from us too soon. I’m not sure what our lives hold beyond today, and it’s impossible to imagine life without them. But we wake up each day, trying to keep pushing because Kobe, and our baby girl, Gigi, are shining on us to light the way. Our love for them is endless — and that’s to say, immeasurable. I just wish I could hug them, kiss them and bless them. Have them here with us, forever. Thank you for sharing your joy, your grief and your support with us. We ask that you grant us the respect and privacy we will need to navigate this new reality. Since the post, the hashtag #GirlsDad has been trending all over the world with fathers all over the world keeping their daughters closer than ever. ESPN correspondent Elle Duncan reflected upon her memories with the late Bryant as they spoke about being a father and a parent to daughters. She discusses the half-hour conversation that they had and recalled her thoughts of Gigi, the comfort she received from Bryant's death was he died doing what he loved "Being a girl Dad." While this tragedy is still haunting the world and being in a state of mourning but the world has become more aware to open their arms and hearts to keep their loved ones close to them. Its a lesson to all of us to hug our mothers our fathers and those that we love; we do not know what life will bring for us but to just cherish every moment. That is the Kobe Effect ....
